Meghan McCain's husband, Ben Domenech, slammed Twitter for letting a tweet stay up for hours that included an image doctored to show a gun pointed at Meghan McCain as she approached her father's. Ben Domenech (born January 1, 1982) is an American writer, blogger, editor and television commentator. He is the co-founder and the publisher of The Federalist, host of The Federalist Radio Hour, and writes The Transom, a daily subscription newsletter for political insiders. He also co-founded the RedState group blog. He is the former managing editor for health care policy at The Heartland. Photos emerged on social media Wednesday showing a beaming Meghan McCain during her wedding to journalist Ben Domenech at the McCain family compound in Arizona on Tuesday.

Ben Domenech made the curious decision to publicly defend President Donald Trump after The Atlantic ran a blockbuster report claiming Trump seethed over having to honor McCain upon his death and complained about lowering the White House flag to half-staff in memorial.

Domenech, the founder of The Federalist and a frequent commentator on Fox News, is also the son-in-law of the late Senator McCain and husband to conservative firebrand and The View co-host Meghan McCain.

The article details how Trump canceled a 2018 trip to a WWI American cemetery in France for fear of his hair getting messy in the rain and demeaned the war dead interred there as “suckers” and “losers.”

I’m confident I have better sources within this White House than @JeffreyGoldberg, and I expect that upon investigation his anonymously sourced story will live up to the quality we can expect from The Atlantic under his leadership.

For her part, Meghan McCain expressed her frustration and sorrow of hearing her father’s name back in the news in such a controversial manner. McCain tweeted:

I just got through two years without my Dad a few days ago. The loss is still incredibly painful and raw. No one is more acutely aware of how vile and disgusting Trump has been to my family, it is still hard to understand – America knows who this man is…

Ben

This never stops being incredibly painful, triggering, and it rips off new layers of grief that wreak havoc on my life. I wouldn’t wish any of it on my worst enemy. I truly pray for peace for my family, our grief, and for this country.

Trump hit back on the report saying on Twitter that he never called John McCain a loser and that it was his “honor” to offer the Vietnam War veteran, longtime U.S. Senator, and 2008 Republican presidential candidate a hero’s sendoff. Videotape and tweets exist, however, that prove Trump has referred to McCain as a loser multiple times.

The View also confirmed the news on Twitter.

McCain, the daughter of late senator John McCain, announced her pregnancy in March. McCain and Ben Domenech, 38, married in 2017.

The 35-year-old media personality previously had a miscarriage in 2019.

'I think everyone knows this has not been a smooth road to motherhood. It's taken a lot of physical, emotional, mental strength to get here. I think, like a lot of women, it wasn't a straight line. I didn't know if i was ever going to be a mom, so I'm excited,' she said previously in March about her journey to motherhood.

McCain has kept her pregnancy private, stating in May that she wouldn't be posting about it on social media for the 'comfort' and 'safety' of her family.
